Established in 1973, the Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Ltd, widely known as Milkfed Punjab, was founded with a dual mission. Firstly, it aimed to offer a lucrative market for milk to the state's producers through value addition and effective marketing. Simultaneously, it sought to provide technical support to milk producers to enhance milk production. The Federation actively engaged in its objectives in 1983 when all the milk plants of the erstwhile Punjab Dairy Development Corporation Ltd were handed over to the cooperative sector. This move, along with the state-wide implementation of Operation Flood, aimed to secure better deals for farmers and provide customers with superior dairy products. Over the years, Milkfed Punjab has consistently worked towards achieving its defined objectives outlined in its bylaws.
